Toi Wāhine Festival

Hamilton’s own Toi Wāhine Festival, from 18th to 28th September 2019, celebrates the creativity, ideas and actions of women from the Waikato and beyond.

This unique 11-day festival returns for a second year with arts and community events, live performances, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions and so much more! By honouring diversity, sharing stories and exploring issues NZ women face now, and in the future, Toi Wāhine will appeal across an inclusive spectrum of ages, cultures, identities and interests. Toi Wāhine aims to connect, inspire and empower Waikato women.

The 2019 program will stage a varied range of art genres with exciting new work from Waikato’s emerging voices and established practitioners, alongside innovative modern performances from New Zealand artists.
Panels and Salons will provide spaces to hear from unique women, discuss current ideas, encourage action and make some lasting connections.  Interactive community events will feature, as we collaborate with a diverse range of local women’s groups to bring their issues to the conversation.

Affordable ticket prices, community engagement and many free events will again be a feature of the festival. This September multiple voices and stories will be heard at venues around Hamilton in Toi Wāhine 2019.

“Ki te kotahi te kākaho ka whati; ki te kāpuia e kore e whati.

Alone we can be broken. Standing together, we are invincible”
